Garbe Industrial Real Estate is building for Amazon in Emden

Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH together with the general contractor Bremer AG has begun construction of a new distribution centre in Emden, Lower Saxony/Germany, for the online retailer Amazon. The logistics property is being built on a 30,500 square metre site on the Frisia Industrial and Commercial Campus.

“The distribution centre is planned with a hall area of around 4,700 square metres and will be equipped with seven van loading gates and five ground-level gates. So, a typical last mile property,” explains Jan Dietrich Hempel, managing director of Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH. In addition, parking spaces for 74 cars and 224 vans will be created on the site. The new building is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2021. Jan Dietrich Hempel: “In total, we are investing around 13 million euros in project development.”

The realisation is being carried out together with Bremer Projektentwicklung GmbH; the construction is being carried out by Bremer Bremen GmbH.

The distribution centre in Emden is one of several logistics halls that the Hamburg-based project developer has built for Amazon. “In the field of e-commerce and online trading, we can cover the entire range of logistics properties required,” says Jan Dietrich Hempel. In addition to smaller dispatch locations, so-called cross docks, these also include classic picking centres, redistribution warehouses or hybrid properties for B2B and B2C business.

The tenant, Amazon, is expected to deliver the first packages from the distribution centre for end customers in spring 2021. Deliveries are supported by the distribution centre’s excellent location and transport connections. This means that the connections to the Autobahn 31 and the B210 federal road can be reached in just five minutes.
